The Unrelenting from Sports Illustrated, The Hockey Players
Congratulations to Blake Bolden, Kendall Coyne Schofield and Hillary Knight being named to Sports Illustrated - Unrelenting List. The list covers the most powerful, most influential and most outstanding women in sports right now. They are joining some great company as some of the other names on the list include: Billy Jean King, Simone Biles and Megan Rapinoe who are all strong influential women.
Blake Bolden is a three time NWHL all-star and 2019 defensive player of the year. She dedicates her time to helping young girls of color to learn and enjoy the sport of hockey through the Black Girl Hockey Club and is the first black woman to be a pro-scout in the NHL working with the LA Kings organization. Blake was the first woman of color to join the NWHL at the age of 25 and it has been a pleasure to see her play and grow. Working hard to grow the game of female hockey, but also the task of working towards inclusivity in the game we all know and love.
Kendall Coyne Schofield shattered glass ceilings in the NHL all star game a couple years ago when she was asked at the last minute to participate in the fastest skater competition. Finishing in 7th place and just under a second behind 3 time champion Connor McDavid. Kendall has used her platform to be a voice for women's and girls hockey and a standing and outspoken member of the PWHPA. Taking part in the “Dream Gap'' tour and hosting camps and clinics for younger girls of hockey. She is a true inspiration and role model that girls can look up to! Doesn’t hurt that she is also a 2 time Olympic Medalist…
Hillary Knight is one that is the face of women’s hockey. From being a leader on the scoreboard and off the ice. She is one of the loudest advocates for better and equal treatment of female hockey players with the PWHP and leading the charge of over 200 players joining her cause. Being a three time Olympic Champion, participating in the Dream Gap Tour as well to show the NEXT generation of players there is hope.
We applaud all three of these women for being strong, passionate and working towards growing the game, we can only hope that one day we can be just as influential or at least see the changes they are advocating for.
